We just had free ice cream
Which means every other Thursday until September or so we'll be getting ice cream.

That, and at 4:21pm today I will have reached my 40 hours for the week and Friday will be entirely overtime
Yay for unlimited OT!

Yes, they ARE hiring! You just need to move to Charleston
They have 8 or 9 positions open currently.

They actually have an entire ice cream truck come, and you can pick what you want. They've got Sno-Cones, Screwballs, Fudge Bars, King Cones/Drumsticks, Fruit bars, Klondikes, etc etc.

Over the river and through the woods...
It's so nice when a company does something like that for their employees. I think a lot of companies don't realize what a morale boost something so small as that can be. Every few months, our supervisors get together and buy pizza for everyone (out of their own pockets) and our Christmas party is AWESOME!!

Little things like that make work so much better. I still hate my job, but I LOVE the pizza!

So many people get a boost from the ice cream. Its a nice little break from the grind, and the company pays for it out of pocket. The owner of the company even comes and gets some ice cream.

One of the analyzer instrument manufacturers buys our department a pizza party 2-3 times per year, and a standards company we use sends us a pre-paid Visa for our department to go out to eat once a year. Every now and again a client will send money to have a restaurant cater to us either for doing a great job, or if they are closing out a contract that we did well on. (For those Ohio people, we tested for the big Fernald decommissioning - at the close of the contract, they had Moe's Southwest Grill cater).

Our Christmas party is usually an oyster roast in the company parking lot, and they rent a beer truck
Free beer is the best beer!! Last year Rob and I really enjoyed ourselves - it was the first time either of us had gone to one (he'd worked here 5 years and quit in 07, I've been here 3 years in August). They had desserts, oysters, BBQ pork and chicken, snacks, and the beer truck with a bonfire. It's pretty nice, and the company buys all the food.

In my experience, the companies who treat their customers and workers best are the ones who don't have to worry much when the lean times come. Too bad more managers (and employees) don't learn that lesson.
