Nuh uh...might give me away!
My DH and I close on our very first home next week. I'm so stressed that we'll forget some sort of utility, or paperwork or something!

I just need vibes to help me calm down and de-stress. We don't have to be out of our current place until July 31, so that will really go a long way towards relieving stress.

Phew...

Make some lists! I find writing stuff down, in detail and order, helps me straighten out my thoughts and worry less about forgetting something.
You could also get a few folders, in different colors, for your paper work and label them so you know where everything is.

Refocus the energy you're using now to worry, in other words.

It could always be a bit more mixed up! I was in the hospital when DH and I were supposed to close on our house.
Luckily we had a very nice and honest real estate agent who was able to help us out.

I'm sure it'll all work out fine. Your first week of moving will be worse. Don't forget that you'll need to scrub and inspect that house from top to bottom. I found rat poison secreted away in several cabinets and the carpets were filthy. I definitely wasn't bring the cats in till the house was safe!
Ironically.. I haven't so much as seen a single mouse dropping in the house. Even when I was cleaning before moving in.

Congrats on your new home!!

We bought ours over 20 years ago directly from the owner and all I can remember is signing alot of documents. I would make sure the utlities are switched to your name and that they former owner has paid their amount owing.

The only problem we had was with the property tax amount. It was prorated based on the prior years valuation of the home. Well we got a surprise three months later when the bill had increased by about one third!! With the decline in home values make sure you are paying the right amount.

Lots of destressing for you.

Thats great that you don't have to be out of your current place right away. It makes it so much easier that way. I had the same, our house was finally done building in early August 2003, but I kept my townhouse untill Oct.1. It made life so much easier.... we'd go grab a box here and there, unpack, and repeat, instead of being surrounded by so many boxes to unpack.

I hope everything goes smoothly for you

Congrats on your first home
