I came home today and Simba (10 weeks) was sleeping and when he woke up his left eye looked red around the rim and a little puffy. He was rubbing it with his paw. He also seemed to be 'swallowing' more than normal.

I immediately called the vet and made an appt for this evening. However, about an hour later I looked at him and I could find no trace of redness and he was acting fine, so I canceled the appt, as there was really nothing for the vet to see.

I will keep a close eye on this and if it happens again and persists make a new appt. My vets are very good about getting you in if you think your cat has an upper respiratory infection.

OOPS I meant to post this in health, not behavior, sorry! Can a Moderator please move it?

Thanks

It's very possible that he came into contact with something that caused an allergic reaction, or he got something in his eye. Just keep an eye out for discharge or a change in his behavior

Or he could of had his head tucked down in his paw, opened his eyes and caught a speck of dust in his eye.

Thanks for the input. Actually, where he was sleeping it was pretty dusty (my office hahaha!). So far, it still looks OK. Let's hope it stays that way!
