I'm very happy you were able to find a vet that is good & doesn't charge too much!

Keep us updated, and I'm continuing to send

I am so glad to hear that your cat is getting good vet care, sounds as if you have taken him to the best place possible. Just like humans, cats become a little more susceptible to viruses etc. as they get older, 8 years old doesn't seem a lot but I suppose he is getting towards being middle-aged just like me, and a bit more vulnerable to illness as a result - more likely to catch a bug that's doing the rounds and to worse effect than the younger cats may experience.

Bless his heart, wishing you all the best for a quick recovery.

He should be fine in a few days, unless they find out the cause is actually cancer or a kidney issue, however that seems unlikely at this point.

They even waived the 'walk-in' fee and used the money for additional tests and some pain medicine. The place is just wonderful.

Thank you all for the help. I'll give another update when he gets home. This site is great, and I appreciate all you have done.
Wow, sounds like Kitty is in good hands. You seem to have found a great place.

I hope Kitty improves and hope you can update us when he comes home.

So Kitty's still recovering. He's not eating on his own, we're force-feeding him with small syringes. He still looks terrible. But he is moving around and the prognosis is still good. I just wish he'd start showing signs of improvement.

Kitty cost us almost 900 dollar, going to the emergency and staying a 2 days. We are tapped out, mostly.

Now I have a new problem. 11 other cats, more then half showing SOME signs of URI. Most are just sneezing, and are still acting completely normal. A few of the less-social cats are showing no outward signs of infection.

But our two little kittens (one year old come July) are showing slightly more symptoms. They are moving around, socializing, etc. But at the same time, they do seem less active overall (you know how kittens are normally). Sneezing, slightly puff eyes, alittle runny nose.

So here comes the question... how do I get large amounts of antiibiotics, cheaply, without taken each cat to the Vet?

Poor kids, I hope they all get better soon! I sort of had this situation, one cat with URI, and 2 more at home. When they diagnosed my one with URI, I immediately asked for antibotics for the rest. They didn't hesitate to go ahead and give me prescriptions without seeing them. This is my regular vet, and they based dose off of past weights. I think after what you have been, the Dr. would understand, and take your word on the weight of each of the others to prescribe them something. It is worth a shot! Best of luck to you all!!

You might need a prescription for the antibiotics.
Because you need them "now", the fastest way might be to call your vet's technician or have the vet call you vet to discuss the quickest and least expensive way to get them.

one less expensive way of getting anti-biotics is to ask your vet if he/she will call them into a local pharmacy, the drugs can be cheaper there than if filled thru your vet's office

The meds are DEFINITELY cheaper (at least around here) if filled at a pharmacy instead of at the vet!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe the emergency hospital you visited will call in the scrip? You need the approximate weight of all the cats so you get the right amount into each one.
