***CAUTION SPOILERS***

Just finished reading "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy. I thought it was a great book! The movie is coming out in the Fall, it stars Viggo Mortensen... and NICK CAVE is doing the music!

Does anybody else like the book? Looking forward to the movie?

...Just remember that the things you put into your head are there forever, he said. You might want to think about that.
You forget some things, dont you?
Yes. You forget what you want to remember and you remember what you want to forget.

I read the book on someone's recommendation. I had seen No Country For Old Men and thought it was wonderfully made. A friend of mine asked me if I had ever read any of Cormac McCarthy's books. I said I hadn't, but would like to.

He said that most of his books are very bleak, there's usually not a satisfying, clean and clear resolution. Then he mentioned "The Road" and said I should try reading that, because it was different.

I loved it! I inhaled it and am still haunted by it. Then I read somewhere that this is the first book of his that really has some hope at the end (and it does).....because McCarthy got married very late in life and had a son, and then wrote this book.

I'm eagerly waiting for the movie. I'm fascinated by post-apocolyptic fiction.

Yep, read the book too. Very different, I thought a fast read too. I think it should be a interesting movie if the producers stick to the book.

LOL, I inhaled it, too. Read it in two afternoons.

***SPOILERS!***
At the end of the book when the boy meets the man (who says he has two kids), and the man tells him to go back to the road and says he'll bring the boy's blankets, I thought FOR SURE he was going to steal the boy's stuff and leave him there!

Viggo is such a good actor. On the trailer he looks so starved & dirty and wide-eyed.

Here's a trailer...
