PETA miffed at President Obama's fly "execution"

OK hand on your heart - even of you aren't fond of Obama, this is over the top, isn't it?

Quote:
"Believe it or not, we've actually been contacted by multiple media outlets wanting to know PETA's official response to the executive insect execution," a blog on the group's website explained. "In a nutshell, our position is this: He isn't the Buddha, he's a human being, and human beings have a long way to go before they think before they act."

The group has sent Obama a device that traps a fly so it can then be released outside.

You know, once upon a time I fully supported PETA..... once upon a time, they weren't so extreme as they are now.

This in my humble opinion is stupid to put it bluntly.

But then in PETA's eyes, I am a bad person because I keep snakes and feed them rodents (live or frozen, doesn't matter, still a negative in the eyes of PETA)

A fly? Give me a break.... what's next, PETA attacks someone for killing a mosiquito that has the potential to spread the West nile virus....

Persi killed a fly yesterday and I have not seen one single report of this incident.

Gus loves to eat flies no complaints here Peta is ridiculous

They should have see the spider one of my 3 squashed yesterday.....Planks!!

For PETA, this seems like a very mild response. They apparently didn't even say anything until news agencies started calling them asking for their response. In comparison to a lot of other incidents, they seem subdued about this one, almost as if even they know that it's ridiculous.

We've all likely killed or prevented the birth of gazillions of fleas. I suggest the site's name be changed to massmurderers.com.

I had the exterminator over a few weeks ago. Hope PETA doesn't find out.

I just posted in another thread about glue traps and not doing (undo) harm to the little mouses. I was hoping to not be thought of too PETA like. (That said, I have dispatched them, mice, not PETA, lol) They have given those of us who who do out best to do no harm to animals a big black eye with the extreme views and methods.
Flies? They are PO'ed about the president killing a fly??? I really just have to laugh at this, how insane!
They sent him a device? LOL, I call it an upside down glass and a peice of paper, but whatever PETA

I don't think PETA really cares - but if they're asked for an opinion they can't exactly come out and say "you know what, we would have done the same thing, I hate flies"
Ok, here we go again, PETA showing and proving just how stupid they are and yet, people still send them their money
post #12 of 29
I do not like PETA at all and never will.
Maybe they can get mad about all the Ants we kill.

This is EXTREMELY over the top. I usually support preserving wildlife but I don't carry humane fly traps around with me and I don't think anyone in their right mind does...
I like it when PETA's miffed. Gives me something to roll my eyes at.

I have a fly trapper. I'm not sure anyone would call him humane.
Ooops......I killed a fly the other day. Please don't tell PETA!!

Yeah, I have a couple of them, too! Work well on all sorts of flying/crawling things. TEEHEE!

Democrats and Republicans agree: PETA's criticism of Obama killing fly ridiculous.

Ever see the Penn & Teller BS episode of PETA? It's eye opening.

Thats exactly what I had pictured.

I love PETA. I go to their site every once in awhile to get a good laugh. I had a friend in high school who was a member of PETA and we teased her and called it People who Eat Tasty Animals.

How insane is that?? A fly?? I wounder what they do about insects in their homes?

When I weld, I very frequently notice flies that are attracted to the very bright electrical arc that I produce and they willingly fly so close that they are killed by the very intense heat. I must be a horrible person for doing something that kills flies. Maybe PETA will send a fly-proof barrier to put up around my welding operation so that I don't kill any more flies. At the very least, maybe they could send little fly-sized warning signs and orange cones to warn the flies of the danger.

Oh please...........flies carry germs and does PETA realize they SPIT in your food? The only time I caught flies were for my lizard to eat. Otherwise the fly swatter will make a good weapon to kill the suckers.

Is there any way that PETA can be sent to the moon...........permanently?????
I'd be on their side if he pulled the fly's legs and wings off and tortured it....I do think all creatures should be treated with respect. But a quick humane swatting death? Pfft. Nutjobs. I'd respect PETA more if they didn't kill 90% of the animals they take into their shelters.........then they'd at least have some basis for criticizing how people treat animals.

I must confess... I killed one earlier this week at work. It was getting in my face. I told my coworker I don't like anything human or animal that gets in my face (except cats - they get free passes for a lot of stuff). So it had to die.

And I killed a ton of ants the day I found there was a kitty and kitten in our yard and left food.

Then again, maybe I should admit that I have a dark side.

They dont spit, they vomit, to use the enzymes to help digest the food. Yummy!
I am a person who catches them and throws them outside (to the cat's dismay)

Oh, please don't report me to them for the earthworm I accidentally decapitated while planting flowers yesterday!!!

These people are nuts. I don't like Obama, but, really! Give him a break here. I even saw the Dalai Lama swat at a bug during an interview with Bill Moyers years ago--who asked him about it. If the Dalai Lama doesn't worry about killing a bug, then neither should PETA!

Now, THAT would be interesting! (MargeCat wipes her sweaty brow, and says, "Whewww!", realizing that now someone else will be reported to PETA, and her crimes will be forgiven!)

(Seriously, I did feel bad about the worm. I do try to avoid killing bugs, unless they are the ones that come inside, and start multiplying, like the shield bugs and the black and red thingies we get every year! I don't like killing them, but it's the vacuum cleaner hose for 'em!)

I have accidentally sliced many a worm gardning, I always feel bad!
The red and black thingys would be what I call lady bugs but they arent. I don't know the real name for them, but they bite, and stink if you squish them. They are EVERWHERE in the warm weather!

If there was, I would personally take them there, along with HSUS and API

Confession time:

Yesterday we all went fishing for fish..........ok "sea kittens"....and please don't tell PETA that we had a container of worms and were pulling them apart to be used for bait for the little sea kittens.

Tho PETA may be happy that we didn't catch any...........at least this time....but watch out for next time we go fishing.....lmbo
