kittens to cats..

i have 2 soon to be 1 year old cats.. when and how should i switch them to adult cat food.. right now i have them on purina kitten chow.. dry food seems to work for us being that it is what they perfer.. i want them to have their nutritien with good dry food.. what are some suggestions for good healthy but reasonably priced cat food..??

i would estimate that we spend about $20 a month now on their food.. $30 is a little more i guess but when it comes to their health i dont think an extra $10 is a big deal.. i would like to stay between $20 and $30..

where can you shop?? grocery , walmart , petco , petsmart or local pet store

Look at all Petsmarts premium drys ( blue spa, nutro , authority , by nature , royal canin( rc is likely too spendy) ... two cats should be in a 6-10 lb bag per month

I always gradually change

IMO they could have been eating adult food 6 months ago. I never feed my kittens kitten food longer then 4-5 months. They get adult food after 5 months old with no problem (and at the proper weight/muscle).

Unless its a large breed like a Maine Coon or the kitten has been sick and needs the extra calories, then you don't have to feed them past 6 months old (kitten food).

I've seen too many young fat cats and probably due to either free feeding or being on kitten food too long.
