Four days ago, Cali tried to cough up a hairball. 3 or 4 messes of previously eaten food, but no hair. Two days ago one mess of food and four areas of just saliva. Yesterday, I don't know if she ate anything or drank any water. It's hard to tell since I have two cats. In the evening she wasn't looking great and I thought I would take her to the vet today. Today, she ate - not a full amount - and no hair in the litter box, but she looks ok. I have been putting probably 1/8 tsp of vaseline on her paw in the morning and again at night. At what point do you take them to the vet, and how does the vet treat them for this?

I would take her to the vet now - this might not be a hairball problem. Since she was not looking well last night, please take he in today... I would not wait.
