My Smoke ran off

Ok. I know that I should have been more careful, but I didn't think she would leave like she did. I have a doggie door that goes onto the screened in porch where Smoke likes to stay. She can watch the horses, and just enjoy life. Well, Sunday morning, DH was coming out of the porch screen door with two cups of coffee, and he held the door open a little longer then he should have. Well, Smoke took off like a bat out of h**l. She ran across the deck, off the side, and I thought she ran under the house. I have called and called and checked under the house, and even asked my barn cats to spread out and look for her. Nothing so far. She does have a breakaway collar with a tag on it. She is about 8 mo. old, and when we found her she was in our barn. She has been an inside only cat now for about 3-4 months since we've had her. I really miss her, and stay outside looking for her and calling her name. Do you think she will come back. I'm sick with worry about her. She knows how to use the doggie doors, so I'm keeping them open for her. I'm going to put in a cat infa-red door and put the collars on the dogs. That way she will have to stay inside. I'm just so worried about her. What can I do to make her come back? any suggestions?

Mine ran off for a day, I left food outside for him, then I saw him around the food, so I was able to grab him. Maybe something very smelly like tuna or mackrel. I know its hard when theres other cats around that will eat the food. Someone will come along with other ideas.

Good luck please keep us informed

They usually don't go very far. I wouldn't be surprised if she's still under your house. When my neighbor's cat who was born with no eyes got out and lost, another poster on the forums suggested that we put bird seed out to lure him from under the house. Turned out my neighbor got to him before we tried it but it might be a good thing to try with your kitty.

Some cats, when outdoors, are too petrified to go anywhere. Have you tried putting out food for her, leaving the porch door open, etc?

I've been crawling around under the house today. I haven't seen her, but I have one more area to go. I have to wait till DH gets home, as I can't seem to get the door open. I spend time outside just calling her name, loud, soft, excited, sweet, anyway I can. I live out in the country and have a horse farm. I found her originally in the barn with her sister. She has been spayed and ear tipped as I was going to put her back out with the others. I fell in love with her so much I couldn't send her back out. My barn cats are all rescue ferals from a TNR group, or, just ones that came to visit and stayed. They have all been fixed and tipped. I've left the door open, put food out, used flashlights, etc. Of course, our property is surrounded by trees and more trees. Luckly, I live on a country road, but that doesn't mean cars don't use it. Just not a lot. I really need her back. She is my first inside cat. I have never liked cats, but she has changed me so much.

PS this is a pic of her. she is a blue and cream, and yes, it does look like she has eye liner on.

Have you been to the barn yet?

I have checked the barn, hay loft, small garden, I just don't know where else to look. I'm going to go out and check under the house after dinner, and if she's not there, then I'm out of options of where to look.

well, she's not under the house. None of the other barn cats came home with her by their side, so I'm at a lost. I can only hope that she comes back home on her own. I'm always listening for the doggie door to open and for her to come walking in as if to say " WHHAT?"
