One of the fascinating people that I have met over the Internet is a Pet Detective. She is really a unique individual and she just sent me the following list.

I am putting it here in the hopes it might help those whose cat gets lost inside the house:

Typical Hiding Holes:

In reclining chairs- inside the ledge the supports the footrest when it is extended

In a hole in your box spring and mattress- get a flashlight and lie on your back looking under you bed and look for torn lining- find the lining, find the hole, find the kitty.

Behind the books in a bookcase

Behind unopened drawers in a dresser

In the chimney

In heating ducts

Behind the refrigerator or stove

Wrapped in the bottom of your drapes

Who knows maybe what Patt shared with me will help someone down the road.

cats don't have collarbones, so they can get into any space that is as wide as their whiskers- I have found some in spaces that just amaze me as to how they managed?

One night, as I was about to go to sleep, I opened a dresser drawer to put something away. Joey, of course, had to immediately come from nowhere and zip into the drawer. Before I knew what was happening, he went up behind the drawer and into the bowels of the dresser. I had to take several drawers out in order to retrieve him. What a pest he can be!

I found Tiki underneath my Mom & Dad's bed today. I've been checking on her regularly since she's got nasty eye infections. For the life of me I could not get her out of there! Apparently the bed has a hole in the box spring fabric and she somehow managed to squeeze her little body inside there. Looks like I'll have to get the staple gun out and tack up the fabric so that doesn't happen again.

Movin' on up!
With the exception of a chimney, I have found cats in each of those places.

Rpwdy is frequently shut up in closets and cupboards. She darts in so quickly and hides under and behind my long dresses.
