I took Goldy, Iris, and Cali to a cat show in Tucson this past weekend. It was a 1-day show with 6 rings, and HHP's were shown in all rings. There were 25 cats entered in the Household Pet category, which is a huge number. One show I went to last year just to observe the process had only 5 HHP entries.

Ready . . .Uh, no, Miss Patchwillow, you're not going this time.

Set . . .not too sure about this whole riding in the car thing.

Go! Goldy, Cali, and Iris in the benching area

Cali was really too scared to show well. At one point she was shaking so hard I thought she was having a seizure. She will definitely not be going to any more shows.

(Goldy's next)

Iris did very well for her first show. She wasn't very lively, but she also wasn't trying to hide under the table.

Iris made 4 Top Ten finals!!!
(I didn't use the picture with all 4 ribbons because she was pretty sleepy by then and didn't look very happy)

Can we play with the ribbons on the ride home, Mom?

Congratulations

Cali might be more comfortable with curtains around her cage and a more snuggly donut or igloo bed so she doesn't feel so exposed.

I had put her in between her mother and sister thinking she would be more comfortable that way. The pillow is one she sleeps on frequently at home. I was hoping they would let me put her in the same cage as Iris, even though I had paid for three cages, but they said it wasn't allowed. She spent most of the time huddled up against the bars reaching into her mother's cage.

Cali has gotten very skittish lately, for no apparent reason. I almost called last week to see if I could substitute one of my other cats. I'm wishing now that I had done it. The whole experience was very traumatic for Cali.

Thanks, Everybody. I think Iris could eventually do really well in the shows. She's still young, not quite 10 months, so she's got plenty of time to learn the routines. Now I just have to manage my schedule so I can take her.
