I left my cat under the care of my brother for 10 days when I traveled abroad. When I returned, I noticed that 1 eye is slightly less open than the other.

It doesn't seem to have any discharge, but it does appear to be in discomfort.

I have tried opening up the eyes to see if there is something causing the irritation to no avail.

Has this happened to anyone before? His behaviors are all normal. Could it be that he just got a hair in his eye?

I have one indoor cat who has that problem from time to time. The first time, I assumed that she had been scratched by another cat (she has a very nasty disposition). I couldn't see a scratch, or anything else, in her eye. The two-three times it has happened, it improved on its own.

If the symptoms don't clear up within a day or two, definitely take the cat to the vet. It could be something like a scratch or an infection.

I took him to the vet. The vet found some irritation inside his eyes possibly from scratching his own eyes for whatever reason. Quite possibly because his claws were so sharp from not being cut for 10 days, and accidentally knicked himself.

Gave me some eye drops to give him, and I hope he gets better soon.

Thanks everyone.
