Hello everyone. 4 weeks ago we adopted a beatiful longhair tortie (Callie) who had been at the shelter for 4.5 yrs. She is 8 yrs old. She is adjusting well and really coming out of her shell. We adore her.

During her time at the shelter she had become very close to another tortie named Christie. Christie has been at the shelter since she was just a kitten, she is now 9 yrs. These two cats are very close and were never seen without each other. We were assured that Christie would adjust to Callies absents. However we were visiting the shelter to check on her and things are not going well for Christie. She is not eating and has lost weight. She appears depressed and I am afraid that removing Callie from her was not good.

Will Christie get use to being without Callie or do we need to bring this sweet girl home? Have the two been seperated to long? we just don't know what to do. Callie is doing wonderfully and is so happy but to see Christie fading so quickly.......

any thoughts or input out there?

Isthere any way you can take the other cat.
I would adopt the other cat if it is possible.
Sounds like she is upset because you adopted Callie.

Yes, that's what I would do, as well.

They would be company for each other when you leave them on their own.

I am using my own experience as an example since we have three cats, ourselves.

I would adopt her as well if you have the means to. Poor thing, being in the shelter so long and now her best friend isn't with her.
I say go for it and bring the kitty home.

If you can afford it, I would bring her friend home too since they spend so many years together. Just be prepared it may take them some time to readjust to each other after being apart.
