Hi guys,

Raw seems to be a lost cause for Kizzy, but I was thinking about trying some with the kittens.

What seems to be the one that most felines enjoy? beef? chicken? turkey?

I know it would have to be cut up into small kitten size pieces, and assumably no bone.... (they are 10wks on Sunday, and have been eating canned and dry since 6wks...different varieties of both)

If anyone has suggestions on what to try them with, please let me know

( supplemental only, I won't be switching them over....I just want them to eat anything pretty much so there's some flexibility and if in the future I decide to go completely raw, then they've already had a taste )

Mine eat chicken, turkey, game hen, and beef.

I don't know anything about feeding raw to kittens. Good luck!

What I've read on raw it's good to give a variey otherwise you could have a picky puss on your hand. I'd do Turkey one day, chicken another, beef another. That said I've no experience with raw diets. I would feed it if I could but with three cats (and soon to be four) it would cost me about £70 + a week. Eek!! I think raws the best way to feed cats and good on you!!!

We don't really feed raw, other then the occasional couple of bites (once a week) of raw hamburger or raw chicken before we cook it. They love both.

At 10 weeks they shouldn't have any trouble with a chicken neck or wing, many breeders who raw feed start bones at 5-6 weeks, whack with a mallot to break up the bones a bit.
By 12 weeks they can manage bones without you breaking them up.

Mine love beef, lamb, chicken, seafood - any meat pretty much

Great.... I guess we'll have chicken for supper tomorrow, and hopefully there's a neck in it to try. (sometimes there is, sometimes there isn't) If not, I'll grab a wing off of it.

If I read you right, I shouldn't have to cut it up? Just give it some whacks?

Do you take the skin off of it? (like when we eat it, we take the fatty skin off and just eat the meat)

All our kittens are started off on raw, as soon as they are trying solid foods.
As early as 5 weeks.

I don't make my own though. I buy the pre-made stuff by Natures Variety, Primal Pet Foods and Bravo.

Favorites with the kittens are:

Venison
Organic Chicken
Duck with Bones
Beef with Salmon

Don't skin the meat. Since they haven't had bones before I would whack them, make it a bit easier for kittens to eat.
