I know someone posted about the series a while ago but I don't remember who it was.
Well a new book is out- dead and gone and the reviews are horrible. I got it in the mail but haven't read it yet. Anyone read it and have an opinion?
True blood is also about to start a new season this Sunday is the series premiere. I honestly can't say I'm excited- the ads were pretty gross and unappealing. But you never know it might be good...

I've not seen any of the ads, but I will be recording and watching the show.
I'm just hoping that it lives up to the first season. Vampire shows always walk that fine line of semi-realism vs. total cheese
They did a good job the first season, even introducing shape shifting and the possibility of werewolves, so it will be interesting to see what happens the 2nd season.

Hey, isn't that hunky Swedish actor starring in this???? I loved him as Sgt. Colbert in Generation Kill--I was shocked to find out that English wasn't his native language. And I must admit, I rather enjoyed his shirt-less scenes...just don't tell DH...he must've wondered why I took such an interest in Marine Recon...

Lol Alexander Sasgard is in it!! He is so hot.. I must say him playing Eric made me like the character much more... I used to be a Bill fan all the way and I hated Eric so much..He has a much bigger role in the 2nd season btw. I loved the first season, i thought it was absolutely brilliant until Sookie and Bill had sex- that was a bit gross and I feel like they showed too much lol so I pretty much disliked it for a while and then i loved the last episode. All of the little previews of 2nd season I've seen remind of that sex scene with the blood pouring down and i'm a bit grossed out..I hope so much that it's better than that.
I can't wait to read the book ughh if only i didn't have a test monday i'd soo be on it.

I've read the newest book and it's just not up to par with the rest of her series. I like the True Blood show but just enjoy the books way more.

Too bad
I LOVED the entire series but I noticed they were kind of getting worse slowly after book 5. I still want to read it just because I've fallen in love with everything about the series now, even if they story's bad I want to read about the setting, the characters...I absolutely love the way Charlaine Harris describes Bon Temps, Sookie's friends, I loved Amelia and her black kitty lol and Sam is pretty awesome. And most of all I love how Sookie is soo strong willed. She follows her moral code no matter what happens and how desperate she gets...

I've never heard of the series before until yesterday when I saw something about it on one of those Hollywood Gossip shows. It's quite possible that it wasn't on in Canada until this season. It's not unusual for us to be a season behind with a new series.

Anyway, I have programmed my VCR to tape it on Sunday.

I tried to read the books and got through the first one, but only halfway through the second one. They were just not all that interesting to me. Tried watching the series also, same problem. Just too cheesy maybe.

My daughter was hooked on this series. I'll have to let her know the new season is starting - if she doesn't already know. She's always way ahead of me on these things.

I have 2 episodes to finish on season 1 before the season 2 premiere. I've only read the first book so far, and really liked it. I am picking up book 2 today. So far I like the tv series, but the books are better.

I love the book series and the HBO series. I can't wait for the premier on Sunday. I haven't read the newest book yet- finances are tight and there is a huge wait at the library. Sigh. I may buy it next Friday when I get paid.

I haven't read the books, but just finished watching the first season. It had a bit too much things that bothered me, like the location of the vamp fangs, the silver thing etc. I also hate Sookie Stackhouse, she's annoying.. *dodges flying cat poo*
But I do like Eric, Tara and Lafayette!

I propably will be watching the 2nd season 'coz at least the show has vampires in it, and I have a soft spot for them..

Sookie in the show is very different from Sookie in the book...The location of the fangs was a bit strange, they were kind of pointing down ...

I actually ended up reading the book and not studying..Well I will study also but i had to read it. It was good...but now I am obsessed and I NEED another book, but it doesn't come out until next year

There are plenty of books in that genre, but if you really like Harris's style you could always read her Lily Bard series and hunt down the Sookie Stackhouse stories from anthologies.

I just watched it for the first time last night.

It's on HBO Canada here which is a relatively new channel and I only started subscribing to it a couple months ago. So I don't know if the first season was actually on here or not.

Anyway, it was a 2 hour episode last night. The first hour was the season ending from the first season, followed by the first episode of the current season.

Is it always so "racy" with that much foul language? There was one part that was actually pornographic (the kids watching the video part). I certainly wasn't expecting that during prime time!

I'm not really sure what to think about it. I wasn't really impressed by what I saw, but since I love Vampyre stuff I'll give it a few more chances. I'm not really sure, but I think I was expecting something different than what I saw.

Anna Paquin is from Winnipeg I believe. I felt her acting was quite good.

Yeah generally most episodes are that racy. I would say its the reason HBO does it, they have that style.
