We received a new kitten about 6 weeks ago...He is know about 13 weeks old. He got outside about 10 days ago and was under my boyfriends truck. when I got from underneath the truck he had grease on his fur. so I washed it off best i could with dawn dish soap. i noticed that evening it was still on him so I washed him off really well with just water. I read online to try baby powder and that seem to help. Now i've noticed that the whole area is kinda of a yellow crust....Is there anything I might be able to do without bring him to the vet??

I believe you did the right thing using the Dawn dish soap as it should remove any oily grease.

Is the skin scraped from being under the truck? That may cause pus or drainage to form a crust in the fur. If there is a skin wound I'm not sure powder is best.

The major concern is whether or not he may have ingested anything by licking his fur AND/OR if he licked any antifreeze off the ground while under the truck. This is deadly.

Maybe if you call your vet and ask one of the vet techs or the vet. They could tell you the risks and what watch for.

Hope he gets better soon.
