Hmm,

it does sound like this person is trying to find a loving home for the sphynx (though its not clear if he's been neutered or not), what did you mean when you wrote that you'll try to do something about it?

regards,

christine

Hmmm, maybe she just wants to make sure the cat is Ok once he's been re- homed?

As said I'd be worried if he were un- neutered as this could mean someone could consider using him to produce a litter
I'll never get how people can re- home unaltered pedigree cats.

I know someone that would want him but she almost 4 hours from there but we culd pick up and deliver.
I do not like where it says they have to visit and there is no price.
They have not wrote back and it does not say if he is fixed or not.
If he is from a breeder then he would be fixed.
It sounds to me this person is lazy and can not handle taking care of a sphynx.
The cat is only 1 years old and they have to be 4 months before you can get a kitten from a breeder.
Maybe they have not had him that long.
Also why not send him back if he is from a good breeder.
Its in the contracts.

Hi,

well, your friend will have to wait untill you get an answer.

Theoretically you're right- if he is from a breeder he should be fixed and the breeder should be willing to take him back for re- homing. Unfortunately not all breeders are like this.

christine

The article says the cat loves attention and craves human compionship. This is just my opinion, but it sounds like this person either doesn't have enough time or just doesn't want to be bothered with fully meeting this animal's needs.

FWIW - my take on sphynx cats is that people don't do the research and learn that they need a great deal of care. Once they get the kitty and realize how much work they are, they don't want them anymore.

I truly hope this kitty can be returned to the breeder.

I have heard that alot of times.
Even people at cat shows say all sphynx must be easy to take care of since they have no fur.
These are breeders of other cats saying that.
You should see the look on thier faces when I tell them how work there is with a sphynx.
Most breeders that I know are strict who they let their sphynx go to.
I do know of some bad breeders also that would sell to anyone.
I think this person does not want to be bothered with the care of the sphynx.

I am sure this other person will charge also.
Seems odd all the sphynx are bi colors on cl.
Of course they got 40 replys.not
People want sphynx just because the breed and do not know anything about them.
Look at that one in Detroit spelled sphynx.
I bet most of these people are jerks.
The person in San Francisco is not replying.
Maybe I asked to many questions.

The person answered the email but asked so many questions.
My sister said they asked for her phone number and wanted to now where she lives.
The price depends on your living situation.
They never answered my email.
But I got to nosy.

OK - is he SELLING the cat or trying to find it a good home? Grrrrrr! What a Jerk! Anyone want a Sphynx from Detroit?

(BTW - selling is not allowed on the pet section of CL!!!)
Um,

100 dollars would be about 70 euros? In Germany that would be a normal to low re-homing fee if the cat has been neutered and has had its shots.

In my German forum we recommend people who have to re-home a cat to charge a re-homing fee to make sure the cat goes to a home that knows that cats cost money and thus aren't treated as a freebee. And of course to cover the costs of neutering and vaccinations if necessary
.

If someone's not willing to pay 100 dollars for the cat- what do you think they might do when the first vet bill becomes necessary?

regards,

Christine

100 is cheap for a sphynx.
Sphynx are not a cheap breed of cat.
My sister would pay that.
Its just hard to trust people on craigslist.

It's not the fee, it is the tone of his post about all these people who didn't want to pay a rehoming fee that was probably way too high to begin with - purebred or not. It's like - "Fine all you unreasonable people, I will let my cat go for 100 dollars, are you satisfied now?" That is how it came across to me. he had posted before and was snotty.
