Hi guys

We're having our kitchen area redesigned, and we're planning to have cat flaps in two doors, to allow the cats to eat in the new utility room, and do their business in the downstairs cloakroom. I'm after any recommendations for suitable cat flaps which fit the following criteria:
  • Our cats are Main Coons, both over 7kg, so we will need large cat flaps
  • They are indoor cats, so we need no magnetic mechanisms to keep stray cats out
  • The doors are wooden
  • I guess lockable would be useful, but not essential
  • It would be nice if they were fairly quiet to use
  • It would be nice if they looked fairly neat and tidy - the doors will be painted white, and the new kitchen modern in style, in white/chrome
  • We live in the UK so ideally would like to be able to purchase the cat flaps in this country
Any advice would be most welcome!

Many thanks

Staywell is the brand we have. They come in many different models and sizes, so I'm sure you'll find a size that is suitable. We have the manual four-way lock, and it's quite satisfactory -- a disk that turns to allow fully open, fully closed, in-only or out-only.

We're on our second one, having replaced the original when a dozen or so years of head bumping and slamming weakened the plastic enough that it finally cracked. Bought the same model, took out the old one, inserted the new, and back in business in no time.

Great - many thanks. I'm off to the local pet store to see what they have, but if they don't have one big enough I will order a Staywell one online.
