I would like to put some wax paper down on some places, but I don't want to do it if there's anything in it that can hurt my kitties. It's a long story, but it has to do with Swanie doing his business where I don't want him to
Is it safe for me to use waxed paper? Thanks.

I know of no problem between wax paper and cats.....perhaps the more important concern lies within the "long story".

Inappropriate elimination is, more often than not, a sign of a health problem. Less frequently, it's a behaviour problem.

I'd be more comfortable knowing that the possibility of a medical problem has been/is being addressed by a Veterinarian.

I completely agree with BLAISE. I would first ensure there is no medical reason for the inappropriate elimination.

I"ve seen a vet, thanks.

He does this occasionally when the litter boxes have been used. They also spread litter all over the place, and I'm not very good about cleaning it up (probably once a month). It's a bit embarassing to say this, but often the area around their litter box looks like a beach. That's what we call it, "the beach." It probably looks like one big litter box to him.

I thought perhaps if I put wax paper down it might be easier to keep it clean, as I could pick up the paper and dump the litter. And if he did go outside the box, it would easier to clean that up too.

So that is the longer story on why I was wondering about it.

You might also consider using puppy training pads instead of wax paper. While a little more expensive, they will absorb the urine while protecting the carpet--with wax paper, it may seep through or drip off the sides. I've also put plastic lids (the kind used on large storage boxes) near the litterboxes to make clean up easier.
