Feeding multiple cats. I have 2 cats and am cosidering a kitten, how do I feed them all, mix kitten and cat food??

Actually I'm really glad someone asked this question - not to hijack the thread mom2raven... (sorry! oops!)
But my cats have a Wellness/Innova diet, and my kittens are getting onto Wellness Kitten now from Royal Canin Kitten and I'll eventually add the Innova Kitten into the diet. My question is - my older cats often come into the safe room and take a few nibbles out of the kitten food. Is this okay? Usually I have just fed the kittens, and they are all eating out of the same dish (which I'm sure for behavior is great). Can my older cats get really sick from this? Or will a few nibbles here and there be okay?
