Me four with my Shadow. He will eat almost anything, so I will give him a lick/bite or two before I continue eating.

Linda, good luck at the vets today. Mega-vibes that your gorgeous Bijou is just fine.

Sorry for the delay in posting. Bijou was a really good boy at the vet's as usual. All the staff got a bit of petting in and he liked the attention.

The vet does not think it is cancerous. She said it was not hard/solid like cancerous masses. Bijou has an appointment for July 2 to have it removed. If they can take it off using local anaesthetic it will be $500, if he needs general anaesthetic it will be over $600. To have it biopsied is another $110. The vet said they can keep the lump in formaldehyde and if the lump should come back we can have the first one biopsied at that time which would save us paying to have it done now on top of the already hefty fee.

So I don't know a whole lot more now than I did before I went, but Bijou did get his rabies shot as it was due. The timing was actually pretty good since he had his annual shots last year on June 14.

I really liked the vet and the staff so although they may be on the pricey side, I think this is the one. They also have a cat's only vet in the same building.

Well, that sounds promising to me - usually doctors tend to be conservative when giving good news, such as likely benign. Lots of hope going you way for a continued good outcome.

I'm so happy to hear that the vet doesn't think it's cancerous!! I'm also happy to hear that you like this vet!
That's so awesome that Bijou will allow all the staff to pet him! What a love!

Glad that you like the vet....that's a huge relief in itself! I will keep you and Bijou in my prayers for a good outcome on July 2nd. At least the vet gave you a cautiously optimistic diagnosis....July 2 will come faster (and easier) now that you're not in panic mode about the "C" word possibility.

Here's my two cent's worth....send the lump to pathology right away, even though it will be pricey. At least you'll have a definitive diagnosis, and you won't have to constantly worry and check for it to come back. If, God forbid, it comes back as something bad, you'll be able to treat it earlier and more effectively.

Sending hugs to you both!

Oh, what a relief, Linda! On all fronts. But I'm with Kelli-Jo about doing the biopsy now, if you can -- it strikes me that $110 is not all that much for peace of mind. FWIW. Give your lovely boy some scritches for me, please.

I have to agree: For your own peace of mind, it would be best to have the biopsy done right away.

I'm very relieved that the vet thinks it's benign.
