Here is a very interesting article regarding the book of Revelation.

Sorry GoldenKitty45, I've been reading on this thread but missed a few posts here and there. My statement really wasn't directed at you, in any case, but thinking about some supposed "Christians" i know who actually do believe that it doesn't matter what you do in this life, if you don't accept Jesus, you're doomed. And that it doesn't matter what you do either as long you accept Him, you're in. And I know Catholics who believe that they can do whatever they want as long as they confess and say a few hail Mary's.

Hi there you two

As I'm most likely to be joining you there should this be the case I'd just like to point out that I think I will enjoy your company.

Jesus also stated, that "no one knows the date or time when the end will come" - only the Father in Heaven (God). God's timetable is NOT man's timetable. That is why many who don't believe in the Bible question about God creating the Heavens and Earth in 7 days. A "day" in God's timetable is not the same 24 hours we call a day.

And so anyone on earth that claims to know the end of time or end of our existence on earth is wrong....because NO one really knows. It could be tonite, tomorrow, 5 yrs from now, or 100 yrs from now. We are to be alert, to watch and wait. Also Jesus will come back the same way he left - in the clouds (not as a newborn baby). And when he comes EVERYONE will be able to see it.

How? I have no clue - will it be aired on a live tv? or by satellite? Who knows what future ways of allowing everyone to see something at the same time. Whatever it is, it will come fast and those that are prepared will be taken - those that are not will be in confusion and suffer all what is predicted.

Revelation is NOT clear, that is obvious, and its not supposed to be clear to us, its things none of us now or back then can comprehend as a mortal man.

I dont believe in the Bible, becaue it was not written by God, but by men.
Your analogy of evertyhing being media is almost exactly what has happened to the Bible, with it's many translations. Everyone has their own opinion, and that got translated.

ETA; Jesus did not leave through the clouds. He left being horribly tortured on the cross.

To paraphrase Mark Twain: "Heaven for the climate, hell for the company"

As for the Book of Revelations, I'm a preterist - I believe it was describing the events of the time when John of Patmos (whoever he actually was) was writing, but that because of political situation of the day, i.e., speaking out against the Roman Emperor (Mr. 616/666 himself) would get you a quick trip to the scenic side of a cross or the wrong end of a lion's mouth, he had to use heavy symbolism.

I would disagree. Jesus did die on the cross and was buried, but he did arise and show himself to many people before he ascended into the clouds.
