I had an awesome cat, Marley. She was perfect. She didn't want to be held, ever, but was so sweet, but not annoyingly so. I don't like when cats are so overly friendly that they won't stop bugging you to pet them. I had Marley for 5 years, and then she went out one day and didn't come home. I know, should have been inside, but she was an indoor/outdoor cat before I got her and just would not acclimate. Yeah, should have tried harder.

I was catless for three years, then a month or so ago, I got Fin. Found him, really. He's awesome! But so friendly! I love him, and I love that he lets me pick him up and love on him. When I first got him he'd climb on me every chance he got. I have taught him not to, and he's been good. But is this good for him? He seems like before I got him, he was a kids' cat, used to being lugged around all day.

I've wondered if I should get another cat, but it's not a given that 2 cats will get along. And I live in a studio apartment with Fin and two dogs (one med sized, one small).

I think it will lessen. All my cats were uber-needy when I first got them. It took a good year for it to lessen. So hang in there! Rocko needed to "make buscuits" on top of me as I was laying down several times a day...he would paw me to death if I didn't give in (and quite frankly I would to anything to make them feel comforted). Now he can go days without needing to do that. A rub on the nose and he is good!
Being new he is probably so happy to have a person to love him.
