Was in New York City over the weekend with my boyfriend - first real time off that we have had together - more than one night - in about 2 years!

We were walking down Central Park South (south border of Central Park) in front of the Plaza - used to be a really fancy hotel now it's condos.

There was a wedding photo shoot going on in front - we stopped to watch, I turned to talk to the bellmen out front about what a beautiful backdrop the hotel was for the pictures and ..... the front door opened and out steps Joan Rivers and her husband. She heard my comment and said something about how nice that was.. .and I said I thought the bride was beautiful.. she said.. she must be freeeeezing (yes it was nippy out) and I said yeah, so are we... and then I said - you have a lovely evening Ms. Rivers... and kept going!

My BF said to me .. .what that THE Joan Rivers? I said yup!

That is so exciting! I live only 40 minutes from NYC, but have never seen anyone famous on the streets. My daughter goes to NYU and sees Chris Noth often - he lives in the neighborhood - but he is not friendly when recognized.

If that were me standing there, and I saw a celebrity I would have fainted!

Wow, you were lucky to speak to her.
So cool!

She's lead such an interesting life, it would be interesting to sit down with her and have a conversation.

Congrats on keeping your cool!
So many people freak out when they see someone remotely famous and start asking for autographs and such. All these people want to do is work and go about their lives normally when off of work and not be hounded.

I like Joan Rivers, always have, but I have to be uncouth and ask, does her face look as plastic as it does on TV? (I know, shame on me, but hey, she does plastic surgery jokes all the time!)

Oh yes... she looks just like she does on TV!

I'm sure that if I had asked for an autograph or photo or something she would have complied... as long as you're not obnoxious about it... but I am not an autograph hound.

And yes - I think celebrities are entitled to their private lives, too.

ENGLAND... LAND OF HOPE AND GLORY!
I could sit and listen to her all day because she's so funny
The thing i like about her is that she pulls herself to bits as well as other celebs

She was on breakfast t.v. here last week and said she spends half of her time in the UK.

When did she re marry?

Well perhaps that wasn't her hubby, but she definitely had a nice-looking middle aged gentleman on her arm.

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
How fun for you!!!!!!!
I haven't seen her for some time - guess I'm glad.
But she is a VERY funny lady, and has had a fabulous career.

I think you couldn't have handled it better - fun, respectful and thoughtful.
