OMG, I forgot St Swithun's Day and I forgot!!!
I suspect you will think of any excuse for a celebration, and why not?

Tonight we had stir-fried bok choy and beef, with rice and some yummy corn that was on sale. For dessert there's papaya and mango.

Well, so much for fruit. By the time we'd consumed our wings and salad, the consensus was more wine and TimTams. There's something extraordinarily civilized about sitting in the cool of the evening, among assorted green things, in anticipation of a gorgeous sunset, sipping red wine and munching on Dark Chocolate TimTams. aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh.

Crenshaw melon, peaches, nectarines, stuffed olives, marinated mushrooms, turkey salad/spread, crackers, bagel chips, toasted baguette bread, swiss, muenster, cheddar, and brie.

I love nibbly food when it's hot out

OOOOOhhhhh I may need to have a TimTam with the glass of white wine I am having right now. That sounds good.

ETA - I went with one of these instead:

We had grilled marinated chicken with homemade basil pesto and pasta.

That sounds pretty civilized, too.

Tonight is the other half of Tuesday's Toad. Need a quick/easy/early tonight, and to be honest I'm just as glad I don't need to cook, because it's pretty warm, so heating up the kitchen would not turn my crank.

Hmm, I had to look up Crenshaw melons. They look tasty!
Tonight I didn't get in till late and neither did DH, so we ended up with a what's in the freezer? dinner. Washed down with 2 beers
Gee, I drink a lot of beer!

Pouring rain here today, it's only about 8C so it's chilly, and I am in foul mood due to the weather so I just started a pot of Chicken Vegetable soup. I think I will make a batch of biscuits to go along with it and hopefully that will improve my day.

After gym and dinner last evening, I baked chicken thighs with potato chip coating so that is tonight's dinner with some fresh veggies.

Well, it continues seriously warm, so as little cooking as possible happens in the house. Fine. Any excuse to BBQ. I'm waiting for a callback from my stepson, as to whether he and his SO will be with us for dinner. That may have some effect on what I decide, but one thing I know is that we're due for some steaks, and I usually get drool noises when I say steak to them. So that's likely what will happen, with some grilled asparagus, since I have plenty of that and the next harvest of beans will likely be tomorrow. There's also rhubarb ready to pick, so there may be a crisp on the dessert menu -- at least I can do that in the microwave.

My goodness Fran, if they don't come for dinner, I will. Your hubby does know how lucky he is to have such a good cook for a wife I hope!

We buy the whole beef tenderloin at Costco and cut it into steaks. The whole tenderloin can range from $60 to $90 but the steaks are wonderful and if you figure what it would cost to buy that many filet mignons at the store it would be far more than that. We have steak at least once per week. My brother (that just had the lung transplant and is in a retirement home during his recuperation) is coming for a weekend soon and that's the first thing he has asked me to make for him.

Well it's still raining, and the soup and biscuits are done. Sitting down to a huge bowl, hot buttered biscuits and cheese. If I have any room left afterwards I have some yogurt with dried cherries soaking in it that should be just ready in time for dessert. And I was right the smell of the chicken soup has improved my mood.

That soup and biscuits sound real good!

Tonight is pizza night for us. I'm actually really craving pizza so I can't wait for dinnertime.
