Hi all.
Quick reminder: 2 rescue kittens about 7 mo old. Not related. both have been spayed, Smoke about 2 months ago, Cleo about 1 month ago. Here is what is happening. Smoke was smelling Cleos butt and it looked like she was kinda pressing on her butt. Then Cleo lifts her tail, and starts treading her hind feet like she was in heat. I do know she was in heat when she was spayed, but I thought the treading and all only happened while they were complete. Is it possible that the vet didn't do a complete spay? the same dr. did both spays as they were both ferals, but Smoke came from my barn with her sister, and Cleo came from an apt complex where she was tormented. Is this normal behavior or should she go to the vets? any suggestions.

Hi Mary,

I'd say this is normal and there's no need to go to the vets. As long as both cats are happy I wouldn't be too concerned. Yes, they've been neutered, but that doesn't mean they are totally without certain needs. Usually it's the neutered boys who have their "special soft toy" and enjoy themselves.

Yes, a neuter can be uncomplete- but it's highly unlikely that the vet got it wrong with both your girl and your boy. If she obviously comes into heat again I'd have her hormone status determined to make sure the vet didn't oversee some ovary tissue in her body- but this isn't that likely
.
