I always thought cats were supposed to eat, you know, meat. So, the night before last, as I was cooking my own dinner, I decided to share--when the meat was just barely done, before I seasoned it (I like stuff spicy and I didn't figure the cats would appreciate that), I took a few chunks of beef out of the pan and put them out for the cats. I even took some straight to Panther (Squirrel wouldn't have let me get close enough to bring it to her)...who turned her nose up at it. Wouldn't even try it.

Dear Panther, you are a cat. Cats are carnivores. Beef is made out of meat. And you always want to steal some when I'm having a cheeseburger. All you've had since Thanksgiving is dry kibble; you should have swarmed that beef and made me afraid that my hand being next to it might mean I would lose a finger. Sincerely, Your Human Slave.

Seriously...what's up with that?

I read they add stuff to the kibble that makes it irresistible, mabye thats it. but out of my five only three get happy with human meat. I once had a cat who whenever I bought iceburgh lettuce had to have a whole leaf, she'd drag it to her bed and chow down...lol. Funny little guys arent they.

LOL...maybe to her it was like eating grass?

Well, one of them ate the meat, anyway. I didn't see who, but I'm guessing it was Squirrel. I suppose when they're used to the kibble, anything else might seem strange.

Maybe it was cooked too much for her? Or maybe too much butter? Or oil?

Who knows, cats can be weird when it comes to food sometimes!

Cats are fussy I think and may not be willing to try something new right away. I gave my slew of kittens a couple cubes of cooked chicken last night, though, and then they screamed at me for more the whole time I was making chicken soup.

I love how they will squint their eyes when I offer them something they don't like. I let one sniff my apple last night and she squinted her eyes and backed away like I was trying to kill her.
