Are you serious? I just bought a can of that (first time ever) to try and fed it to Cammy tonight. It didn't look moldy though.

Same boat, bought first five cans on Thursday.

I did see some brown gelatin-like substance at the bottom but figured it was the oil/fat. It looked nothing like the mold in the pictures.

Thanks for the heads-up.

Woah, that looks unpleasant.

I've never had a problem with NB canned, but I will make sure to look extra hard at the cans I buy moving forward.

Thanks for the heads up!

It doesn't have to do with a potential change in ingredients does it?

The reason I ask is in canine k/d sometimes there's a film in the top of the can but it's not mold it's from sulfer in the food... so could natural balance have changed an ingredient without having to tell anyone?

I don't think that it is due to any change in ingredients because some of the cans processed after the one whose picture is posted are apparently OK. There are some who have gone out and purchased cans just to see how wide spread this is. I wish I knew if the persons whose can dates are posted above were from the same 'big box store chain' which may indicate a storage problem.

please don't tell me this is true. It's the food I've been feeding Luna for at least the past couple of months since the prescription version costs almost $2 per can. I've been liking paying half the price instead. If this food gets recalled, this is going to hit me really hard in the wallet.

And on top of that, the 3 month old, Top Cat, eats his own stuff. At least he's been eating Merrick canned along with a dry mix of Royal Canin and Taste of the Wild.

Here are the photo links to the above food. Pictures were taken after food had been frozen so they are not that great.

This mold could have happened if the cans were somehow punctured during or after the manufacturing process and sat on the shelf not properly sealed up. All it takes is a miniscule hole to allow in batcteria or fungus.

I guess what I am trying to say is don't rush to blame the company. They could have faulty manufacturing equiptment, or a case could have been dropped in transit or at the warehouse. People with affected cans need to let the stores where they purchased them know and the company.

The people with affected cans have notified all stores and NB and FDA. A report from the NB corp is expected today. Will post any updates to this situation.

Yikes! I just bought a can of the NB Duck and Pea and tried it last night. I didn't notice anything wrong with the can but four of my six cats nibbled and one threw up after eating it. The rest of the food was left untouched so I threw it out.

I really hope it didn't have anything wrong with it. I just assumed they didn't like it and that it just didn't sit well with Aura's tummy.

I did get a can of the Venison and Pea and the Ultimate (?) Formula. I hope those are OK.

Wow, definitely not impressed with NB...My first five cans could be the last I buy from them.
