I had always intended to feed Blossom raw but got lazy & she only ever had a few meals as a baby. And knowing how fussy cats are with eating I never tried her since, until she started to steal the chicken legs I had defrosting in the sink for my dogs.

I would hear a bang & on investigation, here she is with a huge raw chicken leg & chomping into it.

I have given her one each week & she eats all of it except for about 1/2 the lower end of the bone.

I gave my cat chicken once and he totally loved it, but can cats get salmonella from chicken like humans?

Cats and dogs are far less susceptible to, but are not immune to, salmonella poisoning than humans are. In a recent pet food recall case between 60 and 70 humans contracted salmonella poisoning from casual contact with contaminated dry dog food. None of the dogs that actually ate the food got sick.
