So 2 wks ago this stray cat came up to us, he was in very bad shape. We already have 3 cats and a foster cat that we were picking up in the morning. He stayed in the "Cat room" over night and I cleaned him up and gave him as much food and water that'd he eat/drink.

Then unfortunalty for the safety of the othre cats, I had to move him outside to my porch. The weather was nice and I had found a santuary that would take him (put wouldn't be able to come out until the next day). He hung around for hours but that night took off! I figured he'd be back since it was dusk when he left and that's when cats are active but he hasn't.

I've left food out, set a humane trap (caught a big black bird???) and still nothing. The sanctuary is leaving a spot open for him but I don't know what else to do to attract him back to my house. Any thoughts?

oh and I do have found ads up but no ones claiming him. I guess I should take them down now that he's not techincally here anymorelol

All you can really do right now is to continue to leave food out for him, preferably in the same spot where he last ate when at your home. He may have found shelter at another home and may not return. Have you talked to anyone in the area on whether or not they have seen him?

one lady calims she's been feeding him for years, but she's not that reliable. She caused a lot of problems between me and animal control last year over an injured feral cat because she was telling them and I abunch of lies lol So I'm not sure if I bleieve her or not. When I drive by her house I look to see if he's by her food dishes (she does leave food out).

Well I caught something but whatever it was some how got out of the trap. Shredded the newspaper, peed all over, and tore up the towels I had over it.

Now I'm not sure if I should set it up in the same area or move it or what...

Do you have raccoons in your area? A cat would not typically do that.

Tons of coons.

But the fur left behind was orange/white. Not the cat I was looking for and I haven't seen an orange/white kitty around. Might have been a big feral tom.

oh I know! I'm so shocked. I've been thinking the trap is roken, but I cleaned it up real well and had my cats test it out, I even pushed it around, shook it hard, etc to see if I could get it open and nothing.

I do have some feliway so I'll use that. thanks for the good idea!

just wanted to update. we found him when we were fixing hte skirting on my trailer and he's gone.

Never again am I just going to put the cat back outside and hope it sticks around. I feel so guilty about this. Next time we'll just find away to make it work.
