I hope they catch the S.O.B asap!!

SO terrible that there are actually people like that....

Those poor kitties and their families
OMG - God forgive, but I wish he would be skinned alive just like what he is doing with these kitties... This is just sick!
This sicko needs to be drawn and quartered. EVIL person...
Oh wow what a sicko. I don't want to read the article!

I will never understand why people do this. Who could ever take pleasure in killing cats? The death penalty is too good for these monsters. And that's exactly what they are. The day a person kills a cat just for something to do, is the day that person loses the right to call them self human.

R.I.P. poor kitties.

When I saw on the news last night that this guy was still loose and killing, I was surprised and upset.

A part of me is really glad that Ollie, Ally, and myself are out of here in 2 weeks and 3 days. I'm also glad that I didn't take the scholarship offer at the University of Miami School of Law. It was the largest offer I got, almost double what Minnesota offered - but aside from the fact that I didn't want to go to Miami again (went there for undergrad) - I don't want to live in Miami anymore, and this guy only strengthens my desire not to live down there. I lived down there for 8 years cumulatively. That was plenty. My apartment wasn't terribly far from these crimes.

This guy is sick - plain and simple. What's really sad is that if caught, who knows what he'll face. Animal cruelty case law down here leaves a lot to be desired. We can only hope that if caught, the Miami State Attorneys Office will push hard for the max penalty.

or....

To be honest, what I hope for is that if caught, he does something massively stupid, like point a gun at an officer. Something where he doesn't exactly make it to court.

Sadly, it's possibly more of a crime down here to have sex with an animal than to do what this sicko is doing. (not advocating bestiality here, I'm condeming cruelty - to be clear)

This person is extremely sick!!! Maybe the lawmakers down there can be petitioned to pass better animal cruelty laws. And this is a perfect example of why something more needs to be done ASAP!

Update: Cat killer has not been caught but they have not killed anymore cats. Police are still on the look out for this person.

If they ever do catch them, I'm pretty sure they will punish them

Just a couple days ago a man beat a duck, he was arrested and charged with animal cruelty and aggravated assault.
I didn't see if the guy was charged with felony animal cruelty (3rd degree felony) or misdemeanor animal cruelty.

If you think about it, even if it was a felony, it's still a joke. It isn't justice.

A person who beats a duck is crazy. Period. They should be locked up in a padded room.

This is so disturbing. I live in Hallandale. The news says they found another cat mutilated about an hour ago.

Just to clarify, animal brutality that results in the death of an animal is a felony each offense 5 years/10k fine, as I understand it... So if it's a person, which it has to be considering the spread, and they can link them to the total count is up to 25 now? all 25 counts, yeah... it's not justice for this person to be locked up, and it's so disturbing, but it's... something.

God forgive my thoughts on this person. Brutalizing any single animal is bad enough.

I think they said it was up to 29 in Miami and 17 in Broward on the radio just now. Not sure if they're right.

Max 5 years each, but my understanding is that judges down here often run the sentences concurrent because our prisons and jails are overloaded. Fortunately, the number of cases now should put this guy well into scoring mandatory prison, so probation isn't an option. If it had been one or two cats, he might have gotten off with probation if I understand the Florida criminal system correctly.

yeah unfortunatly, the prison system is what it is down here. I should have been a little more clear that it is the max sentencing. I'd like to think with such an extreme case, they'd be pretty hard on him. One or two cats, probabtion ... 4-5 cats, concurrent sentencing and a hefty fine... not that the state would ever collect ... but if they can link more than that directly to an individual, I can only pray the judges won't be lenient and the state gets a reealllyyy good expert witness, or several.

Hello everyone! I didn't know where to post this but I was hoping you could send some warm wishes to the poor families of the 20+ (and growing) cats that are being killed and mutilated by a cat killer in South Florida!! I just saw this on the news tonight and couldn't believe it!! Poor things!!

It's horrible!!! I posted a thread about this about a week ago. I hope they catch him/her soon. The count is up to 30 currently. Scary part is i live very very close to where this is happening. People have put up signs and everything.

I truly pray they catch the person responsible. Today they found 5 cats mutilated left on people's lawn.

They even went as far as to kill a police officer's cat. Makes me soooo mad this is happening.

There are more details of events leading to his arrest:
Report gives new details on accused Miami cat killer and mutilator Tyler Weinman
post #19 of 26
he needs to be mutilated
These kind of 'people' should be punished the same way they treated those poor animals. I would be glad to hunt him down and torture him, and to be honest, I would enjoy it.
In addition to the criminal charges, I hope that his family and he get sued civilly His victims' families have suffered psychologically, and probably physically, as a result of his crimes; at the very least, even if cats are only "property", that is the same as stealing and destroying someone's TV or Car, or whatever.
Mega blessings and Kudos to Ofcr. Colombro for being vigilant and cracking the cast
post #22 of 26
I just wish one day crimes against animals would have the same punishment as crimes against humans; yes, including the death penalty.

Only if you let me take part. Let's see if he smiles then. Or if I could, I'd assign him to bunk with Bubba the cat lover.

Cat killings have cost Miami-Dade police more than $73,000 in overtime

Weinman should be liable for all these costs, IMO.
Not only are the deaths of the cats horrible, but history has shown us that serial killers often begin on animals. From what I know he actually fits the profile of serial killer preety well; Young, male, white, good looking.

I'm glad he was finally caught. All worth the 73,000 + spent on investigating these crimes
