How long between kittens?

Hello

My mom's cat gave birth to a kitten at 8am EST today. The labor was quick, not as messy as I though, and the kitten is doing great. He's loud, hungry, and squirmy.

I am posting because I can feel and see another kitten moving and yet she hasn't given birth to it yet. I have read it can be 4 hours between kittens and I am wondering if this is normal, still?

The momcat is just resting, purring, letting the kitten nurse, and acting really normal. She ate, drank water, etc.

She doesn't look like she's in labor at all. What should I do?

Get to the vet ASAP. Kitten could be stuck in the birth canal stopping the others from coming though!

Sorry for the long wait for an update, my husband came down with a flu.

My mom's cat gave birth to one kitten while I was on the phone with the vet, and then the other as we were getting ready to leave!

Still took her anyhow and the vet confirmed that there were no more kitties inside her and told us that cats can delay labor if they feel unsafe.

Kitten count:

dark grey tabby boy

lighter grey tabby boy

dilute tortie girl (she is very noisy)

pics when I get home (on vacation at parents)

Yes, they can hold off the labor, but it drastically increases the chances of fetal death. Good to take her to the vet to be sure. Can't wait to see photos!
