Older kitten reaction to little kitten

I showed my Smokey, who is about 6-7 mo old the 4 wk old kitten. At first all she wanted to do was smell the kittens butt. She would smell her butt, run off a little, run back and smell her butt. She kept this up for about 2 min. then she went nose to nose and all seemed ok. Then she grabbed the kitten from under the throat with her mouth and pinned her to the ground. Was she being aggressive with the kitten? I took the kitten away immediately, and haven't let them back in together again. Will she hurt the kitten? Is it aggressive, or is she trying to be friends? Any info will be appreciated

Can she hurt the kitten? Yes. Will she hurt the kitten? Cannot say. The act of flipping them over and putting their mouth on their neck can be a domination lesson, or could be aggression. It's not abnormal for them to do this, but I wouldn't be able to tell you their motivation unless I witnessed one of my own cats doing this, and that is only because I know their personalities. I would have to recommend to keep them separated a little longer or if you bring them together, do it thru scent exchange, or very closely supervised face to face contact. A 4 week old kitten is not going to be able to defend himself.
