Hi all, The kitten is now 4 wks old. She is eating like there is no tomorrow, and has finally figured out how to nurse off the bottle. She now weights 13 oz. so I know she is putting on weight. My question is, I don't know if she is pooping. Let me tell you what is going on. I put her on her back and with a warm damp cloth I gently make short strokes on her bottom. Right under the anus is a small sack looking thing that releases the urine. I just haven't gotten anything that I recognize as stools from her. Everything seems to be liquid, but not colored. Am I missing something, should I be doing something different?

Sounds like your doing everything right and trust me, you'll know when it's poop. Even if it's not solid it WILL be colored.

try just lifting the tail and stimulating, s/he may just be uncomfortable on it's back. Sometimes it takes longer to get poop than pee.

I would think that if the kitten's made it to 4 weeks old and seems to be healthy, it's got to be pooping sometime. If things were completely backed up, I'd expect it to not have much of an appetite.

I'm so excited. She pooped by herself, in the litterbox, yesterday. I'm so excited and proud of her. She is so smart. She is going home to her family tonight. She has started to try to eat the bigger kittens dry food, but I've been taking it out of her mouth as she doesn't have all the teeth to crunch them. I'll miss her, as we have really bonded. She is going to a wonderful home. She will be spoiled rotten as she should be.

Mary
