Just a reminder to all - when posting a YouTube link, please make sure all the comments on the page are appropriate for TCS.

I think all the comments on that page are OK! ...but I didn't even know to consider that, so thank you!

OK, I've never actually read any comments on stuff posted on YouTube.
But in looking at some of the tunes, is a link to something where someone posts "F*in awesome song" or whatever - is that inappropriate?

Thanks,

Laurie

That should make for a pretty short thread.

I started to post 2 different links but first read the comments. There were a few colorful adjectives expressing how great the music was

I'll look for other youtube links
.

No kidding!
I never even noticed the messages before. It's annoying to have to read them!

Possibly. Not necessarily, I hope.

One of the neat things about this site is that it is sometimes used in a teaching situation -- and given that there is much material here that we would like kids to be aware of, that's exposure that we covet. The flip side of that coin, though, is that we need to keep things "family friendly", so we need to watch not only how we are expressing ourselves, but what we link to.

I think the best rule of thumb would be if you wouldn't post the language/attitude here, don't link to it.

(oh I have some interesting Jimmy Buffett concert stories that I can't share in open forum!
)

I got to see both Buckwheat Zydeco and the Neville Brothers at 2 different venues one night in New Orleans (before Katrina).
Amy, Stevie Ray Vaughn is one of our all-time favorites. Of course you miss that man - he was one of the best.

Ooops- I can't post the one I was going to. Oh well. It was Texas Flood (the long version).

I wanted to put up some awesome live versions of other songs, but the comments were plagued with minced oaths, so here's Rhiannon...
And here's a crazy version of Sisters of the Moon. No wonder people thought Stevie was a witch!

Hopefully not.
There are normally multiple versions of a clip on YouTube and the language isn't normally bad on all of them.

Here's a few of mine -

Peter Gabriel - In your eyes - Best concert I have ever seen.

David Bowie and Annie Lennox doing Under Pressure by Queen:

Sting - Fortress Around your heart:

Bon Jovi - Living on a Prayer

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nE11Z...x=0&playnext=1

I'll start with those.

Now you've challenged me to find clean comment you tube videos that rock!

Musicians that my kids are named after. Obviously I love the musician or I wouldn't have named the kids after them!

Muddy Waters:

Koko Taylor:
(I actually passed toilet paper to her under the stall of a bar in Chicago one time)

Bob Marley (I don't think they ever recorded him singing this live):

THAT is definitely an unusual "celebrity" story!

And Amy, I should've known (about the kitty names).

And Karen, I love Peter Gabriel, but Gary hates him, so I haven't listened to much for a long time. Thanks for that!

This thread rocks!

Buckwheat Zydecko?!! Seriously?!!
Thank you for introducing me to that name!

It's a shame about the comments on YouTube. I seldom read them actually because of that, but I checked these links. I was an 80's teenybopper, and I gotta tell ya, these videos bring it all back!

If you like cajun or zydeco music, Buckwheat rocks!! I've seen him in concert a few times, actually spent some time talking to him at one of his concerts, and of course have the autographed poster of him framed behind the bar.

Yeah - I sometimes go for the more obscure music.

OMG were you ever an "80s teenybopper" or what? What surprised me is that I KNOW the tunes - and I mean, like, I can sing along with them!

Any Dregs fans out there? If you've never heard them - give it a minute before you decide to move along.
I was never in love with the Steve Morse band - but there is no denying he is one majorly talented guitar player.

Now that it's summertime....absolutely anything Chris Isaak!!!

That man has a voice that can melt butter. Most of his videos on YouTube are fairly suggestive, and might be a little too racy for a family oriented site. I love "Wicked Game" and "Baby Did A Bad Bad Thing."

These are a little less steamy!

Here's a "Wicked Game" video that isn't borderline obscene...

He plays the Meadow Brook Music Festival every summer. I've rarely missed one of his concerts....they are great. He's a wonderful musician and a bit of a stand up comic! Gotta go look for tickets!!!

Edit:
WooooHoooo!!!! 7/19/09, Meadow Brook Music
Festival!!!! Oh man, I'm there!!!!
