Jake is getting really hairy and isn't letting me brush him at all
He is biting the brush and just being bad when I try to brush him. Can someone suggest to me how to give him a haircut? What type of machine should I use? I think I will buy one just for him....All tips will be greatly appreciated.

I have Wahl clippers and the clippers are rechargeable. I just shaved two of my long-hairs this morning (both formerly ferals) It went pretty easy. Dash and Chappy have Persian in them so if you look at them wrong, they matt!

^Really? I've never brought an animal to the groomers..I save leaving the house for Jake only when it's absolutely necessary to see the vet because he hates car rides..
Anyway, it appears that members of my family are very much against giving Jake a haircut
They think he looks beautiful the way he is and that a haircut will ruin his natural beautiful look...So I guess I gave up. I might trim his little butt hair tho because that's so long and puffy. I mean, he's not matted and I guess I'll just work with him on the brushing so he gets more used to it.

What type of brush are you using? It may feel weird or even being pulling his fur, which would explain him biting at it.

IMHO since he's fluffy you should try a detangling comb, a few strokes a day, and work up from there. Another thing you may be able to do use simply use your hair brush on him to help get him used to it. Depending on what type you use - sit down on your bed, give your hair a few brushes, give him one, let him sniff and chew on it if he likes. Whatever you use on him you'll want him familiar and comfortable with it.

I have a comb and I've been using it more lately. But he doesn't have tangles i'm more worried about him shedding so much and I think a brush gets more of those loose hairs. When I pet him a bunch of hair comes loose ....But I've been working with him and I think we are making progress. I brush him every day now.
