My beautiful Isis,

You came into our lives unexpectedly and you left us unexpectedly too.

I remember that cold November night. It was the first real cold weather we had in 2006 and you were telling the whole world how unhappy you were walking down the street. I laughed thinking "boy, she is really telling everyone about something!". I was helping someone to their car with their stuff after a scrapbook night we had at my place.

A little while later, someone else left and I opened to the door and saw you on my welcome map staring up at me.

I decided that I would give you water and some food but that was it. While you were drinking, I checked your paws and you were declawed. You belonged to someone! I took you inside vowing to find your owners.

We posted ads, fliers, alerted the vet....nothing. No one claimed you.

The vet said you were old, at least 7 or 8.

2 weeks after having you, you couldn't breathe. I was freaking out and took you to the vet who said you probably wouldn't last the night. She was going to take you home with her since no one would be at the clinic overnight but we took you home and you made it through the night. You were better the next day and we took you back for tests. It turns out you had asthma. The vet put you on steroids and that helped! I still remember the tricks you had trying to spit the pills out but I developed a technique that was full proof.

Every time we tried to wean you off them, you couldn't breathe anymore so you stayed on them for about 6 months until we moved to the house. We were able to wean you off and you have been off your meds for 2 whole years with no relapse!

Every night, you were my snuggle buddy, you would come and stand over me and eventually settle down for some loving.

You always had something to say. You would talk to us and put your paws on our chest for us to love on you, and we did...every time.

My beautiful Isis girl, I'm glad I was able to be there with you and that you weren't alone in your last minutes. I'm sorry that I couldn't do more for you. I tried, I really did. I was thinking about where I could take you but you left me so quickly that had I gone to put my shoes on, you would have died alone.

I know you didn't get along with the other cats except for Gabriel and sometimes Sephie but they all came to see you after you died and they knew. Sephie was crying as you were dying. I was crying too.

We only had you 2.5 years, Isis girl, but you made all of us happy even though you were our "Miss Cranky Pants".

I hope that we made your last years enjoyable and that you finally felt loved. We sure loved you little girl.

I'm going to miss you, our chats, and especially our snuggles.

Rest in peace, my Isis girl.

RIP Sweet Isis!
I'm sure she knows how much you loved her and at least she had the peace of dying in your arms.

I am so very sorry for your loss.
I am new here, but can feel all the love for the many furbabies that touch our lives, and your tribute to Isis has me crying for you both.

I'm so glad you happened to find her on your welcome mat - she knew just where to go, to be welcomed both into your home and your hearts!

I am so sorry it was such a tragic loss and way to die. I feel for you, I think all of us who know the special love between cat and human feel for you. Isis knew you were there and loved her I am sure. That was a very nice tribute to her. I could really sense her spirit. She sounded quite special. Isis is at peace now and may you and the other cats find peace as well.

I'm so sorry to hear about Isis. It is hard to lose a little loved one, especially so suddenly. Take comfort in the fact that you were with her and you gave her 2.5 years of love.
