Hi,

I have 3 cats all full grown.....last week I took Zeppy to the vet for a look over, the dr checked her out and gave her a shot of antibiotics for a digestive problem....
Well I brought zeppy home and now Daisy and Zeppy are wanting to kill each other......Daisy hissed and Zeppy attacked! Now its a nightmare at my home
having to keep them separated......They were always best friends and now
its a growl fest - really loud too...Keep in mind these 2 cats are sweet friendly loving pets that never ever gave me a lick of problems....The Vet has been nothing short of usless of advise (I will not be going back to her anymore) and I am thinking somehow Zeppy came home with a bad scent or something...

Now I have to figure out a way to get them back to being friends again or Im going to loose my mind......... HELP !

Zeppy

Yes, surely. this is quite common, in fact. Although they dont often fight seriously, but it happens too.

Best is to isolate them from each other, till they have stressed down, AND the returner (=Zeppy in this case) has again the scents of home.

Wrap her and rub in something Daisy uses. Or better still, with something she used, so she will get back her old smells more quickly.

If that dont helps, there are other steps to do.
But this should suffice.

First meeting anew of course with you supervising.

This is quite normal. The cat that went to the vet smells different than when he/she left the house and the cat left at home does not recognize him/her. Cats identify each other by smell.

When we need to take Bijou or Mika to the vet, we generally take them both even if only one of them is being seen. That way they both still smell the same and there are no issues when we get home. They are both just happy to be home and usually cuddle up for a nap together to get over the stress of being in that bad old vet's office.

As Stephan said, try to make them smell the same, put vanilla (pure vanilla extract - not the imitation stuff) on the base of their tail and the top of their head. That should help. I'd also keep them separated if you are not home - in other words if they are not being supervised.
