I haven't used clumping litter in the past but I just adopted a new cat from a vet clinic in a nearby town. At this vet clinic my cat became accustomed to a natural herbal clumping litter, and it was recommended that I continue using it. I have found that the ordor control is good, but the litter is very dusty, and I have asthma. I thinking about trying something a little different, and was wondering if the clumping litters made by Tidy Cat and Fresh Step are good choices I don't want to use anything that has too much of a perfume scent in it.

I got a recommendation for Tidy Cats Breathe Easy scoopable for cats with asthma. We are trying it in a couple of boxes. It is less dusty than Dr Elsey's Precious Cat scooping litter, so I really hope my cats like it.

I have asthma and was having problems with the dust. Goldycat recommended the Walmart "Special Kitty" brand of clumping litter. It is fabulous! It doesn't have a much of a smell (green box, unscented) but has good odor control, it has like no dust (except when you fill the boxes, so just pour carefully), and it clumps even better than the Tidy Cats (which we were using). AND its cheaper!

When you switch, don't do it all at once. Add about 1/4 of a litter box at a time and mix it in.

I use Walmart brand special kitty as well and love it! I tried many store brands before this and although I really liked one but they changed the formula and it became very dusty--the boys were sneezing constantly. I solely use special kitty clumping--well Ginger and the babies have the non clumping and its great too no dust.

I only wish it came in a plastic container, I have a hard time carrying the box and then have to pour it in an old plastic bucket from another litter--but that may be what keeps the cost down is the cardboard box.

We find the box with the plastic bag in it hard to handle too. We do the same thing - pour it into a plastic container that used to have the Tidy Cats in it.
