My little guys will start getting their milk teeth soon, and I want to start the weaning process ASAP so I can get mum spayed. One of the kittens is already showing interest in mum's wet food!

Mum is currently eating Taste of the Wild dry, and Nutro kitten wet food. The shelter that I've fostered through has usually given me the Royal Canin Babycat dry food for little kittens because it's small and soft. Should I let the kittens just start with the Nutro and then add in the Royal Canin when they show interest in dry?

Is there another better dry food for little kittens?

I always start the weaning process by offering soft food mixed with kmr or water and then slowly take away the liquid and start adding the hard food, until it is all hard food and once they are eating the hard food I offer them wet multiple times a day and leave the dry out all day for them to graze on. I personally like California Natural for kittens.

I agree. The shelter I worked for (and my vet agreed) would give Science Diet A/D (I think that was the stuff). It's supposed to be highly nutritious and its almost soupy in texture. Not that I like SD food, but it was a good conversion step if you don't have KMR on hand.

If we leave out wet food, they usually start getting interested
What I sometimes do is rub a bit of wetfood on their mouths- their instinct makes them lick their snouts, so then they get a taste of it- my guys are liking their mouths for hours after like saying "What was that"
