I got curious about how other TCS members decorate there homes. Mine leans toward the exotic, with framed prints of leopards and lions in almost every room. And there is plenty of "live" art, with my three cats lounging about.

We tend to be into very simple decorating, small furtniture and leaving a lot of space to be open so it can be roomy. Also not into elaborate or colorful furniture- simple black leather couches, rugs are mostly in some kind of geometric pattern and light soft colors. One thing we consider essential is the house plants and some abstract paintings on the walls.

Living in a loft leaves me with a pretty open concept floor plan. Although my bedroom is closed off most of the time it does have sliding walls so I can open it up to make the room even larger. My kitchen dining area revolves around a central island which is where I eat most of my meals, and most of the of the decorating in the rest of the house is a off-shoot of the stone counter tops which are a smokey grey/blue..
Most of my furniture is similarly colored to that tone, which makes it wonderful because having grey and grey/white cats means they also match the decor.....easier to hide the cat hair

I have a few pieces of artwork and a few knick-knacks but I have a tendency to keep things minimulistic.

Mine is covered in cat fur. Underneath the fur, you'll find lots of leopard print, greens, tans and browns - very natural colors and materials that go with all the leopard print. And the cats, of course.

I'm a sucker for big cats, so I have lots of pics of those, and I have houseplants in every room as well.

Slowly but surely my home is being taken over by Disney memorabilia. We are a bit obsessed and what started out as an accent piece here and there is steadily becoming the main theme.

hmmmm, we don't really have a "theme".

When you enter our house, you see our picture wall that goes along the stairs going upstairs (lots of photos in clear glass frames covering that wall).

view from my back against the front door:

next room is the computer room:

90g aquarium, china cupboard, plants, his and hers desks

kitchen/dining, open concept, nothing fancy.... have plants in there, one photo and a clock on the wall.

Living room:

decor: 110g fish tank, lots of fantasy oriented statues (dragons....pewter finish), mounted poster....

Colours of the whole house, beige/neutral paint and carpet. Basement is the only one with colour and will have a theme when we're done with it (fantasy... dragons, fairies, etc).

We have plants in pretty much every room, and candles.

The bedrooms are all simple.... the kids have posters n' stuff... my bedroom has candle holders on the walls.

Bathrooms, mainfloor, a framed b&w print, basket of fake flowers on the toilet.
Second floor, main bath: burgundy accents.
Second floor, my bathroom: dark bath mat. No wall decor as we have a window, 2 towel holders, bathrobe rack on the door... no room for anything else.

Well, there is my condo - that I am planning to put on the market - wish me luck... and my Mom's house, which is very traditional double wing colonial.

My condo is a mix of contemporary with a dash of antiques tossed in.

Mom's house is traditional all the way - with lots of art and anitiques everywhere, including artwork my mom did her self. It's really a lovely house.

And Chris, what a beautiful fish tank. I long for one, but here the power can go out for days, we have no generator, all my fish would die, they'd probably die anyway, so it's just not a good idea for me.

Small 800 sq.ft. 1930s farm house (now in the city), big kitchen, small living room, three tiny bedrooms. Very simple and streamlined, all natural woods, stone, leather, wool, with down throws on the sofas, fire in the fireplace. Brr... always chilly and damp here.

Country/antiquey, I suppose. Lots of country blues, greens, tans, rust accents. A few nice pieces of antique furniture, lots of braided throw rugs, homemade homespun curtains, and way too many collectibles. (not junk, collectibles)

Country crowded.

Well, we're back living in the RV again. Tans. 38 x 8. Cat trees instead of a dining room. A lot of cat hair with seven of them in here with us!

When we lived in a house it was wood everthing, a bunch of mission style stuff, wrought iron, and "mushroom" or gold colored microfiber couch/recliner chairs. Camoflauge curtains, pillows, and the seats on rocking chairs. Bedroom was gold and black. Kitchen was black and that natural red clay pottery and cooking stuff. The house was crowded too.

Well that's a relief!

...But there's never ANYTHING out of place! We often have a rumpled or unmade bed, stuff (not in its place) on the counters, dishes in the sink, piles of books or magazines on the floor, a jumble of papers, cell phones and what-have-you on side tables, coins or a miscellaneous shoe in the middle of the floor.... so, like I said, I often hope all you're seeing is the kitties in my pics!
