Of the 3 kittens, one still has her umbilical cord! It's dry and stringy, and looks as though it should have well and truly fallen off by now.

I'm sure it will fall off eventually on its own, my only worry is that it will get pulled off during their rolling around, or she'll get another kittens claw to it and cause infection etc.

Should/can I do anything to help remove it?

Do you have a vet you could call and consult with? All of Ginger's babies lost theirs at 3-4 days.

How long is it? Take some really sharp scissors and cut it short so it's not as likely to be caught by littles claws. You might try cleaning the hair around the cord. It's possible that it really has detached and is just stuck to the hair. If it is still attached, I would call the vet and ask what to do.

It took about 1.5 weeks for Sassy to loose hers. Another couple days past that for the last stub to fall off. It looks great now at 2.5 weeks.

Best wishes for your babies..

I agree to cut it shorter so it doesn't get tangled or a paw step on it and pull. Once its dried up, you can safely cut it shorter. It will fall off soon. I've had a few that held on for a few weeks.

I've trimmed it so it's about 1cm long. It looks as though it's getting loose around the edges, but the centre is definitely attached still.
