Hi everyone,
I am new to this forum but have been in cat rescue for years. I love cats and do any and everything I can to help them. Due to some restricting health issues, I am focusing on TNR right now instead of fostering.
Except for the TNR's, I believe in inside cats only and definitely do not believe in declawing.
I have 6 furbabies:
Whitney ~ Solid gray female, 10 years old, first cat I ever took in. She appeared on my doorstep one day and after sleeping there for a week or so, we decided to vet her and bring her in.
Betty Lou ~ Black and White moo looking fat cat. She also was a stray who ended up in the house. She loves humans but does not like the other cats. She is about 13 yrs old and seems grouchy, but deep down she is a sweetie.
Bella Mia ~ Bella was my first foster cat with a rescue group I joined years ago. I ended up keeping her. She is a petite tabby. Her nickname is Flash and rightfully so. She comes from nowhere it seems and darts out the door but comes right back. It's a little game with her.
Hannah ~ I spotted Hannah at a trucking company where I was feeding cats. She came limping toward me one Sunday night. Her paw was the size of my fist. I had never trapped a feral before. I went home that night and cried about her. I didn't know how in the world I was going to catch her, let alone treat her paw. Well, I did catch her the next day and the first year was rough. Three thousand dollars later, she ended up having her front right leg amputated. Pathology came back as cancer. This summer we've had her 5 years and she is our heart kitty. She is snuggled beside me right now. We love her.
Jazz ~ Huge solid black long hair male. Still very feral after 2 years of living under our roof. He's been with us since he was 3 months old but we still can't make eye contact with him without him bolting. He's safe here and gets along with all of the cats very well.
Sydney ~ Last but not least, Sydney is a Siamese/tabby mix. She is the sweetest of them all and gets along with everyone. She is very laid back and she's my girl. She was abused as a kitten and thankfully got over it and has turned out to be a fun, playful, lovable kitty.
Recently, I took in a gorgeous Siamese Mom and kittens. I was told they were tame but it was a bold face lie. I found excellent homes for the kittens but Mom is totally feral. I will be needing advice on her as time goes on. Right now she is in a safe room but goes nuts when I go in there. I am starting a new approach with her today and I know it may take months and maybe never, to win her trust.
Sorry so long. It's a one time intro :-) Looking forward to meeting you all and your furbabies.
Love,
Brenda
