Hi we recently got a 8 week old male kitten ( a week ago) We watched an instructional video about breaking in a kitten with a adult cat. We have done what the video says. The kitten stays in a room where we have put up a big screen so the female 2 year old cat can see him so they can get used to each other. The closest they have gotten is a few feet apart. For the first 3 or 4 days we tried to make sure the kittens scent was all around the house. She will go up and look in and hiss and growl then run off sometimes she will just look and then run off. I don't understand what is wrong with her, why isn't she more curious about the little fella. We haven't let them be in the same room because we are not sure how she will act because she is full grown and he is little and we want to keep him safe. I would appreciate any help on this subject.

Everything sounds normal to me.
Maybe it's time for a meet? Just let the little guy out, while he is exploring just let the two yr old do whatever she wants, run away or whatever. She will hiss at him and may even hit him over the head. It's okay. They are getting acquainted. Cats communicate differently than we do. He needs to learn proper kitty ettiquette and she will teach him. May look like she doesn't like him but she is just setting up boundries. I know my girl cat is a little witch.
But she really loves ReeRee though, and loves his attention.
