Helllooooooo my fellow Ontarians.

My hubby and I were thinking of taking a few days to ourselves and getting in the truck and just driving. He's been away alot for work, I've been blah with pain issues and surgery and needing to get out....so we want to do something, we just don't know what.

One idea he had was to drive around the great lakes, but I don't have a passport so we X'd that one.

Neither of us have been very far from south western ON. We've been to Niagra Falls, Toronto, Windsor....and last summer I had the privlege of spending 22hrs on a greyhound and went up North to Manitouwadge....absolutely gorgeous. I have a friend up there, really needed a break and went for some "away from my family" time for 5 days.

So, I'm looking for suggestions of places to go.....(in June)

any ideas?

This is just off the top of my head. It really depends on how much you want to spend and what your interest are (golf?fishing?spas?water activities?museums/culture?)

North/Central Ontario - Cottage country - Haliburton/Algonquin Park/Muskoka/Bracebridge/Georgian Bay route. You can google each area and they have tourist guides. There is way too much to list for summer attractions. There are activities and festivals throughout the summer in each area.

Check out this Ontario Travel link:

Northern Ontario, you can take the Polar Bear express train in Cochrane, among other trips:

Eastern Ontario- drive through Kingston on your way to the Ottawa region. Including the 1000 island cruises.

Western Ontario, it's fun to visit the Elora Gorge area and St. Jacob:

We booked a room at the Elora Mill and it was very nice:

Ottawa is the place to be

The market, the museums, the downtown sightseeing.

Central Ontario is a great vaction area for the short type of trip you mentioned. This time of year things really haven't pick up to much so if your traveling during the week hotel rooms are easy to get, and a lot of the activities like say the 30,000 boat cruise are just starting up.
However keep in mind as far as parks, trails and hiking are concern it is also the start of blackfly season so bring lots of bug repellant and with the Victoria Day weekend is coming up and if you are going to be traveling during that time especially in cottage country be prepared for lots of traffic.

I like going to Niagara Falls. Thats really the only place we go to get away. Theres nothing around here to do. I live about half an hour from London and its extremely boring here.

Apparently this inn is really nice. I have never been there, but friends say its nice. http://www.elmhurstinn.com/

It won't be till after the long weekend. He's gotta finish up his project with work, so we're prolly looking at June.

I live 30mins outside of London too, and have lived in London as well. Depending on the time of year, it can be fun. Home County folk festival, the balloon fest, etc. are fun

But we want somewhere we haven't been. NF we've been to, and will go again but not this time.

Thx for all the suggestions guys.
