I was wondering if this is true....

Kizzy eats TOTW, which is an all stages food. I asked at the pet food store about feeding the kittens this, and she said that it's really not meant for 6wk old kittens and to get a kitten specific dry food.

So I ended up getting a kitten specific wet food, and no dry. I had a sample of Nutram kitten food which I put into a bowl for them. last night I added a few kibbles of TOTW and Wellness Core to it. The kittens LOVE the Wellness Core.

So I guess my question is: is an all stage food ok for 6wk old kittens (plus canned kitten food) such as TOTW or Wellness Core or should I get something specific to kittens.

ETA: I will be going shopping today....so I would appreciate input
Thanks.

I would think that 6 weeks may be a little early for TOTW unless you supplement with kitten wet food or something. I'll be starting Ginger's kittens on Diamond Naturals Active cat (high protein high fat), which is recommended for kittens and pregnant and nursing queens--but if all goes as planned and we keep a kitten it will switch to TOTW and raw at about 8 weeks.

Yes, I plan on the majority of their food being wet kitten specific food, but I leave a bowl of kibble for them to munch on in between feedings as they were eating kibble at their previous home.

The lady at the store, said something along the lines of TOTW or WC being too hard for their little tummies to digest. I wasn't sure on that comment.
