Thanks,
There was going to be another show in Fresno in October but there is a conflict with the Big Fresno Fair.
They have not decided what they will do.
The next closest show to you would be the TICA show in Lodi in October
which I am thinking of putting Cleo.
It is also the closest show to me.
Do not worry there will be other shows and you can ask to bench with me.
I understand CFA now
How far are you willing to travel to show your cat?
My friend Aub seemed diapointed.
She could not show her cat this time because they did not have enough entys in the HHP class.
So you would not have been able to show.
She ended up cleaning the cages in the rings.
They were short handed.

That's a shame, here they are still judged regardless of entries. Lowest companion number I've seen was 2.

I did not even get to keep Cleos Winners Ribbons.
They said they did not have enough of them.
I did take the Cleos first Winners Ribbon before they said we could not keep them.
Her cat won Ribbons last time.
I am going to ask how many HHP cats have to be entered before they cancel.

We don't always have ribbons depends on each clubs budget. But they never give you one and take it away.

Sometimes it's just ribbons in 1 ring only, or only for best in group and reserve in group - rest of the top 5 get no ribbon. Usually there is ribbons for the breed classes, but again not always.

The Winner Ribbons you only get once.
Thats why I had to keep 1.
The Rosettes from the finals we keep.
How is it done in Australia?

I only keep the rosettes. A lot of clubs have "permanent" place ribbons (you can request a paper one if you want). But most people don't take them. Saves the clubs a ton of money in ribbons by recycling them when judging.

They are if the club has to order them for every show. That's what was done a long time ago. Then a club got the bright idea to make permant heavy duty ribbons to use in the rings and so they were recycled in each class and the club had that less of an expense.

The rosettes are expensive - am guessing they probably run about $5 a piece to make (could be way off since I don't deal with that any more). You figure there are 40 rosettes in each ring (top 10 for Cat, Kitten, Alter, HHP) times the number of rings. So a typical 8 ring show would have 320 rosettes alone....do the math...

As long a you have a paper or flat ribbon that is not a permant one, its ok. But its not necessary. You want the rosettes to keep

The Rosettes are way nicer anyway.
They had paper Ribbons.
I did not take them.
I have learned a lot now.
Now I need to learn how TICA works.
I have no clue what class to put her in there.
I will have to ask about that later on.

Sorry, I said ribbons I meant Rosettes.

We have rosettes for top 5 (sometimes just top 2), best in breed & reserve in breed depending on breed numbers.

I've never seen paper ribbons. Our rosettes are usually ordered from the US.

Wow from the US?! You should get them from Quality Presentations in Palmerston North, http://www.qualitypresentations.com/

Most clubs in NZ get there clubs from there and lots of AUS clubs too. Also most clubs only do 1 ring of sashes/rosettes now (not ribbons they are stink!)

If you didn't see my show pics thread in Fur pics, here are two of the rosettes Tales won on the weekend, made by Quality Presentations

The premier show of the year which is my club's show does Ribbons, Rosettes, Sashes & Comets - I think in 5 rings and the 6th ring is prize card only. This is what I feel shows should all be like. No shows in NZ have reusable ribbons/rosettes but you can recycle them if you like.

I'm currently keeping all the ones my cats win, except Best of colour/top ten ribbons.

The Rosettes Cleo got came from Canada.
I will keep everything Cleo gets.
I do not care if she gets best of color because it does not matter in sphynx.
The Ribbons Tales got are very pretty.

Yeah I don't know about you but when I spend over $200 to go to a cat show I sort of want to keep what they win. We have a recycled ribbons show at the end of the year(my clubs run this) so I keep some of my ribbons for that rather then give them back to the club who donated them. Our bill for ribbons/rosettes/comets & sashes for our July show every year runs at about $1,500

I am sure it is expensive here also.
A lot of clubs here are gone.
I hae no idea what one I should join since I am over 1 hour away from all of them.

Thanks for the link I will bring it up at our next meetings. I do know it was cheaper for us to order from the US than within Aus, I don't know if anyone looked to NZ.

We have 2 associations FASA and GCCFSA (kind of like how you have CFA, TICA etc.)

Under GCCF I joined the Foreign Shorthair Cat Club, since that's the sort of cats I have.

FASA I was elected onto the executive committee, so haven't joined any of our clubs as I am busy enough without extra meetings/emails from being in another club.

If I were you I'd join either a Sphynx club (if there's enough of them to have a club) or a shorthair club as that should also cover the Sphynx.
Ours meet once a month only, and each club usually has one or two shows a year.
