That is a good story.
Last weekend at the adoption event at our local pet store, 27 dogs were adopted out but less than half as many cats.

My rescue participated in a Michigan Humane Society-sponsored event called "Meet Your Best Friend at the (Detroit) Zoo." We adopted out 10 dogs and four cats. And we were just one or many rescues there, in addition to the MHS.

They always seem to hold adoption events for dogs here, especially at Petsmart. We actually adopted Hoshi from there though. One of the no-kill shelters works with Petsmart to display some of their cats. All are fostered by someone. But it seems whenever there are events no one cares about the cats needing homes, only the dogs. Which yes, they need homes too, but still.

It seems like this event definitely homed A LOT of cats. I've been to Charleston Animal Society before (they have a beautiful new facility) and at one point there'd be 6-7 cats/kittens in one "cage" (a rather oversized "cage" [looked more like a display window] that still had a lot of extra space, but it showed how overpopulated they were). I was there a few months ago and they were full with cats too, I cant believe they managed to adopt out so many, to the point they actually brought cats in from a shelter over an hour away once they ran out locally, so wonderful
