Last year after after 5 months of 3 times per week at the chiropractor my back was feeling great! So great in fact that I had just gotten down to twice monthly maintenance visits. Then the unthinkable happened! I was in a car accident and it set me back to square one again!

Since then I've been seeing the chiropractor every week, usually 2 or 3 times per week.

The physical stress/strain of my job often leaves me with a very sore back, which then results in tight back muscles which results in a less than optimal chiropractic adjustment. For awhile he wasn't able to do a full adjustment because my back was just too tight.

I started into massage therapy and after 3 horrid treatments with 2 different massage therapists I finally managed to find a good one! I've been to see him 4 times for deep tissue massage. The first few treatments hurt like heck in spots, but last week I noticed that it mostly felt nice and not as painful as it had been. Plus my chiropractor has been able to get my back adjustments done too!

I am scheduled for a massage again tomorrow, and a visit to the chiropractor on Friday (1st one in almost 2 weeks), and I feel like I don't even need to go to either one!

I'm still going to go, just to make sure that things continue to improve. My back still gets "tired" but sitting down for a few minutes to rest it usually takes care of the problem. Building up my core muscles will help with that. I need to get back into aqua fit classes. I found those helped me a great deal last year when I was going. I also think it's why my back was feeling so good last year before the accident.

There is nothing more horrible than back pain. I'm so glad that it seems like mine is resolving!! It's nice to come home and not have to go and lay down for an hour or two and still be able to accomplish stuff around the house after work.

Sure there is. Try GI pain that feels likes you're repeatedly being stabbed by a serrated knife and kicked around for added effect. I'd take a SI or back pain over that any day!
Or as some of our other members could probably tell you, migraines, cluster headaches, and other chronic pain that never really goes away.

But that aside, provided that someone hasn't messed their back up too badly they can heal. And it sounds like you're healing nicely.
Just don't let that lull you into accidentally lifting something wrong!

And if you ever get to the point of needing back surgery, I saw something on the news the other day (ironically being tried out at the very spine clinic I have a doctor at) about a newer surgery that isn't as bad. Apparently people can be up and walking the same day of the surgery! They also heal a lot quicker.
