Ollie dug a hole for himself in the litter box and is just laying there

I took him out... he ran back in.

What gives? Is he guarding the litter box all of a sudden (and if so why now?)? Or, is he anticipating the bowel-movement to end all bowel-movements and is afraid to be away from the litter box when it comes? As somebody with Crohns, I can sympathize with the latter.

Could this have something to do with both of them getting a bath today (they smelled like a foot).

At least he's not rolling in it. Lola really enjoys rolling in the litterbox.
